"As the years passed, I turned more and more to the inner landscape of the soul." - Jerry Wray

Similar to the Altar Series, the Inside Looking Out pieces were created with a recurring, meaningful set of large symbols that create spaces filled with various signs. The left tends to be dark, representing an interior area. An ichthus symbol appears like a lens to divide the painting. Finally, the right, usually lighter side represents the exterior.

Jerry said these non-objective paintings used both universal and personal, subjective signs and symbols. The series was a result of Jungian studies she experimented with in connection with her inner journey, as well as an outgrowth of her Judeo-Christian background and her strong beliefs.

“It represents my inner person, looking toward the light of truth,” she said.
